Day 5. Mile 900. Springfield, mo

I started noticing signs of heat fatigue (yawning, lack of
concentration), so I pulled off in springfield and stipped some layers
of clothes. I also bought some gatorade. When I finish it, ill go back
on the road.

I lost 66 again and decided to take some country roads. Missouri is very
much horse country and I saw many amid the twists and turns. I even
passed by a dairy farm. I'm just going to superslab it now because I'm a
bit of a ways from wichita and I have only five hours of light.

I got into a bit of an argument with a rig driver about the right way to
wichita. My map showed route 400 nearby, but no one has heard of it. I
offered route 71, but the rig driver was insistant on my heading to
joplin. I told her I didn't want to go near joplin as it was out of my
way.

Bitch was right. I'm headed to joplin.
